DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

When I was nine years old, my father had to spend three months in the Philippines. Those three months dragged on for ages, and all that time, I used to imagine what it would be like when we went to greet him at the airport on his return. When the day finally came, I was very nervous. I'd had three months to prepare for his arrival. I would spot him in the distance, run over to him, fling myself into his arms and cry out 'papa'. I would tell him how much I loved him and how terribly I had missed him. That's how it was done in the movies, and so that's what I planned to do...
